Combines science, process engineering, business and creative design.

Hands-on chemistry and formulation science courses, including natural products processing and perfumery, cover cosmetics and personal care product formulation. Features group and individual creative design projects to make fully functional products, including marketing, packaging and graphic design, economics and production processes.

This course requires 3 years full-time study and can also be combined with a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Commerce in a 4-year accelerated program.

The Diploma of Personal Care Formulation (10788NAT) has been developed to provide a comprehensive approach to teach you how to become a Cosmetic Chemist. The Institute of Personal Care Science (IPCS) on-line program is Internationally Recognised Training and Industry approved, teaching you everything you need to know about cosmetic science to hold the title 'Cosmetic Chemist'. This course contains a good balance of natural and synthetic formulation types. It particularly focuses on the formulation of safe, stable and efficacious personal care products for the hair, hands, body and face. It also covers the development of cosmetic products from the concept stage and through reverse engineering. Learners are taught how to prepare a variety of personal care products, adapt formulations to suit organisational requirements and develop products based on the latest cosmetic industry advances.
